Failure to pay child support can result in numerous consequences for parents. Two of the most common consequences for not paying child support are driver's license suspension and wage garnishment. Not only do Colorado parents face consequences, so do the children who may end up lacking the basic necessities that child support is meant to provide. 

According to reports, authorities recently placed two people under arrest for not paying child support. One of those arrested was a 31-year-old woman who was apprehended at a Dunkin Donuts. She was accused of owing over $3,600 in child support. She was placed into a county jail, but it is not known if she was granted bond or if she was released.

The other person arrested was a 35-year-old man. Reports indicate that he owes over $8,000 in back child support. He appeared before a Superior Court in Warren County, but it is unknown if this appearance was for the child support matter or another issue. It is not known if the individual was released on bond, and no other information regarding either arrest was reported.

Orders to pay child support are requirements and are not optional. When child support is not received by custodial parents, they are often left struggling just to keep food on the table. Colorado parents who are not receiving their court-ordered child support may want to speak with an experienced family law attorney who will go over all the options available and explain the steps that can be taken to pursue payment.
